Capacitors continued

As when we looked at resistors they could be in several configurations ie. series or parallel.
So it is with capacitors,but with some differences. So let's look at SERIES capacitors first.

To find the total capacitance in the circuit (Ct) we use the following formula

1/Ct = 1/C1 + 1/C2 + 1/C3 Etc. So in the example the total capacitance will be 4 mF. If all capacitors were rated at 12 volts DC then the effective voltage working would be 36 volts,all the
voltages add up. This can be very useful sometimes!
